Research on the Corrosion Behaviors of Austenitic Steel in Molten Aluminum Alloy

Die corrosion has been a concern during aluminum alloy die casting. The casting parameters play significant role in causing corrosion, such as the temperature of melt and working time. In order to study effect time on dynamic behaviors, SDHA steel was stirred molten ADC12 at 650–800 °C. morphology product were investigated through X-ray diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscope (SEM) observations. results show that matrix reacts with form an Al8Fe2Si phase experimental temperatures. growth activation energy is 89 kJ/mol. rate rises increasing holding most serious found when reached 800 °C, which closely related peeling formation grain boundary. Besides, vanadium carbides act barriers hinder diffusion Al Si atoms effectively.
